What Is Medicare?

If you don't currently have health insurance, then you may not be going to the doctor as often as you should because you likely can't afford to pay for medical care, which is expensive. Also, if you do get in a position where you go in for medical treatment because you need it, then you can find yourself with huge bills that you have no way to pay. You may be able to get healthcare coverage through the Medicare program. Once you are covered by Medicare, you would be able to go to the doctor, a hospital, or to other specialists or providers who accept Medicare and it would also help pay for more of your prescriptions. If this sounds interesting, you can learn more about this program by reading here.

How do you qualify?

Since Medicare is a government funded program, you will need to qualify for it. It is provided to those with a disability or to those who are of the age of retirement, which is considered to be 65. Some examples of those who may be able to qualify for the program would include anyone who is dealing with an end-of-life illness, someone who is legally blind, or someone with an illness or injury that prevents them from being able to work full time. There are a lot of factors that go into determining one's eligibility, unless you happen to fall into the category of someone who is of that retirement age.

What does the program cover?

There are different parts to the program. Some people are on all of them, while others are on some of them. These parts are Part A, Part B, Part C, and Part D. The coverage can cover the expenses of things like your regular exams, visits to your doctor for illnesses, visits to the doctor for injuries, etc. The coverage can also cover things like going to the hospital for an injury or illness, going in for tests such as X-Rays, Cat Scans, MRIs, etc. It can also cover things like rehabilitation or other kinds of therapies that your doctor wants you to go through. You may also be able to have your medications covered as well. It is important to note that different people may end up with some copays, and the copay amounts may vary from person to person, depending on each ones individual situation, including their income or if they also have another type of insurance.
